U.S. Sens. Zell Miller and Saxby Chambliss announced Tuesday that
President Bush has chosen Sea Island as the site for the G-8 economic
summit. Gas Review Scooter
"Hosting the G-8 Summit will deliver a significant economic boost to
our coastal Gas Review Scooter communities
and allow us the opportunity to showcase Georgia to the world,"
Chambliss said. "Or hard work advocating SeaIsland to the White House
has paid off, and this is certainly excellent news for Georgia."

State officials have said Sea Island, one of Georgia's barrier islands
about 60 miles south of Savannah, would be ideal for keeping away
protesters and enforcing a tight ring of security.

Anti-globalization protesters have had a growing presence at the
annual summits, where leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy,
Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States meet to
discuss economic and political issues. NOTICE: PLEASE BUY A GAS REVIEW

When you , have a look at the map. To get to Sea Island you have to
go through Brunswick, Gas Review Scooter across a toll causeway (35¢) to
St. Simon's Island, then across that island to the Sea Island Causeway.

It would be a fairly simple thing, I suppose, to seal off Sea Island,
except for residents and G8 attendees, during the summit. I imagine the
attendees will helicopter in from Glynco Jetport -- the municipal
airport just outside Brunswick. But if demonstrators are able to get
onto St. Simon's, there will be bedlam. So I'm thinking both islands
will have to be sealed off.
But Brunswick is a fairly important seaport -- with, for example, a
major auto import Gas Review Scooter complex south of the city. Gas

who gravitate to these summits, you can readily imagine the ruckus they
can kick up even if they're kept off St. Simon's as well as Sea
Island.Link via Gas Review Scooter
